A Ludhiana-based textile company has acquired 25 hectares in the upcoming Basai industrial area, Mandsaur, committing an investment of Rs 2,500 crore to set up an advanced integrated textile unit.
The Basai industrial area spans 178.83 hectares, with development costs of around Rs 89 crore, and is projected to attract over Rs 5,000 crore in investments and generate around 8,000 jobs. “We have allotted 25 hectare to a Ludhianvi based textile company… by investing Rs 2,500 crore,” said Rajesh Rathod, Executive Director, Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC), Ujjain region.
In recent months, textile units from Punjab and Rajasthan have shown interest in Mandsaur and Neemuch districts, with garment, ethanol, and food industries making site visits, though land allotments remain pending. Development work at Basai is expected to commence in Q2 of this financial year.
Another multi-product industrial area is coming up at Chitakheda in Neemuch. Industry representatives have urged the government to ensure essential infrastructure like transport links, uninterrupted utilities, and police presence in industrial belts.
