The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) plans to build a massive cricket stadium in Amane village in Thane district of Maharashtra.
The MCA is looking to build one lakh capacity cricket stadium, spread on around 50 acres of open land in Amane, which is 26 km off Thane, and 68 km from the Wankhede Stadium. It is envisioned to have all the modern amenities, including two grounds for matches to be played.
The MCA has filled the open tender floated by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to acquire the land parcel. The association is waiting for approval from the Maharashtra government.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had requested the Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, to consider constructing a cricket stadium in Mumbai with a crowd capacity of over one lakh.
