The standing committee of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has approved several long-pending infrastructure and civic projects.
Key approvals include the construction of an ingesta plant at the Ghazipur slaughterhouse for processing paunch waste and a dedicated automated parking facility at Bharat Darshan Park. The multilevel puzzle parking, with a capacity of 188 vehicles, will cost Rs 31.6 crore and is expected to be completed within 12 months. “Equipped with advanced technology, this facility will help regulate traffic and provide relief to visitors,” said Standing Committee Chairman Satya Sharma.
The ingesta plant is seen as a critical step towards environmental protection. It was mandated after the Delhi Pollution Control Committee shut down the Ghazipur slaughterhouse in 2022 over pollution violations. Additionally, a Rs 1,144.3 crore project for the phased replacement and maintenance of approx. four lakh LED lights across Central, South, West, and Najafgarh zones was approved.
Other green-lit projects include procurement of 17 backhoe loaders for sanitation improvement, extending agreements with 11 NGOs managing cremation grounds till December 31, 2026, and developing a DTC depot at Hari Nagar.
