The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has fast-tracked the construction of its fifth construction-and-demolition (C&D) waste processing plant in Tehkhand.
The plant will cover the collection, transportation, processing, and disposal of waste from the central and south zones of the city. Once operational, it will process up to 1,000 tonne of waste per day, with the capacity expected to double to 2,000 tonne within two years. The facility will be compact, fully computerised, and equipped with an integrated processing unit, including a log washer for both coarse and fine aggregates. The plant’s end products will meet all prescribed specifications and standards. The project will also include the installation of GPS-enabled vehicles for waste transport, digital weighbridges, and safety measures.
Currently, four other C&D waste plants are operating in the city. Once the fifth plant is up and running, MCD aims to process 5,500 to 6,000 tonne of waste daily.
