The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has dropped Sewri-Worli Elevated Road Connector project.
The authority had taken up the project to connect Bandra Worli Sea Link (BWSL) with planned Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) which was kept on hold last year. Now, although the MTHL is being implemented, the plan for the Elevated Connector project has been buried by the authorities with no budgetary allocation for this fiscal year.
In the latest budget, which was approved a month ago for meeting the expenditures during the financial year 2016-17, no provision has been made for this 4.25 km long Elevated Corridor with an estimated cost of Rs 490.70 crore.
The idea to have the Sewri-Worli Connector to bridge BWSL and MTHL was moved when the latter was to be implemented on Public-Private-Partnership mode.
