The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced plans to build a 21-km double-decker flyover, aimed to be one of the longest in India, connecting Shil Phata junction with Ranjnoli junction in Bhiwandi, passing through Kalyan.
The project will include a four-lane road and metro rail tracks, integrating major infrastructure projects such as the Virar–Alibaug multimodal corridor and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor. The proposed flyover will feature three metro lines, enhancing connectivity between key areas. However, the construction presents significant challenges, particularly crossing busy railway tracks in Kalyan.
This flyover is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve regional connectivity once completed, transforming transport links in the rapidly growing Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
