Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC’s) subsidiary company, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL), plans to expand its refining capacity to 25 million tonne instead of the previously planned 21 million tonne.
The company plans to invest Rs 11,000 crore to raise its refining capacity. It is part of the company’s target of recording Rs 5,000 crore profit and local sales of five million tonne by 2022.
MRPL has asked Engineers India (EIL) to carry out a feasibility study for expansion of its refining capacity from its current 15 million tonne.
The company is ready to manufacture Euro-VI fuel.
MRPL has identified and is in the process of purchasing 1,050 acre of land adjacent to its refinery.
