Magarpatta Township Development and
Construction Company Ltd plans to establish India's largest software technology
park - Cyber City Magarpatta - near Pune, with an investment of Rs.600-800
crore.
The cybercity, to be spread over an
area of 60-80 acres, is 15-20 per cent of the Magarpatta city project, spread
over 400 acres and being developed at a total cost of Rs.2,000-2,500 crore.
The cybercity is located on the
eastern side of Pune on the Pune-Solapur Road. The project would be
commissioned in four phases, with each phase offering around one million square
feet of office space. The first phase is likely to be completed by 2002 and the
last phase, by 2008-09.
The company has entered into
strategic alliances with global entities such as Compaq, Microsoft, Avaya
(formerly Lucent), 3Com, Nortel, IBM, AMP, Cisco, Oracle and Computer
Associates to provide the complete information technology (IT) infrastructure
to the cybercity.
The cybercity would comprise
high-rise buildings for IT-intensive business. It would have access to
recreational facilities such as swimming pool, health club, restaurants, club
house and tennis courts. The city would have uninterrupted power supply from Maharashtra
State Electricity Board, while Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd and other ISPs would provide
satellite and terrestrial links of 64 kbps channels.
