The Maharashtra government has allocated Rs 140 crore to acquire land for widening of the Katraj-Kondhwa Road in Pune. The road covers areas like Rajas Society, Khadi Machine Chowk, and the newly merged Pisoli area.
The state government had approved funds of Rs 200 crore earlier, of which around Rs 48 crore have already been utilised by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). For the road widening, PMC requires around 2.88 lakh sq. mtrs. of land, of which 1.60 lakh sq. mtrs. is in its possession. The remaining land is yet to be acquired.
The works of laying service lines on nearly half of the road are complete, while construction of an underpass and flyover near the road is underway.
The civic body has urged landowners and developers to hand over the land for the project through transferable development rights (TDR), while small property owners will receive cash compensation.
