The Maharashtra government, in partnership with Brookfield Corporation, is set to build Asia’s largest global capacity centre (GCC) with an investment exceeding USD one billion.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made the announcement at the Jio World Centre, stating that the two million sq. ft. facility would create 15,000 direct and 30,000 indirect employment opportunities. CM Fadnavis emphasised the state's vision to make Maharashtra the “GCC-capital” of the world. "We have just discussed an important project to set up the biggest GCC in Asia or maybe the world in collaboration with Brookfield... We want to make Maharashtra a GCC-capital," he said.
The state has also engaged with logistics giant FedEx to set up additional GCCs in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Maharashtra plans to establish 400 GCCs across the state in the next five years, with Pune identified as a key growth hub. The government will first focus on tier-1 cities like Mumbai and Pune before expanding to tier-2 cities.
