Traffic congestion near New Town’s Technopolis area is set to improve significantly as the crucial 11m x 130m road stretch, blocked since July 2024, has reopened for airport-bound vehicles.
The completion of major construction works on the Orange Line’s elevated Nabadiganta metro station by RVNL, responsible for the 32km New Garia-Airport corridor, allows traffic to move straight through the area once again. The metro station’s concourse slab, platforms, and roof are complete, with track laying underway except for a 60m northern section awaiting a traffic block at Sector V-Biswa Bangla Sarani crossing.
Traffic diversions for Salt Lake-bound vehicles remain, as the construction of the station’s commercial zone continues on the western side, expected to last another five to six months.
