Megha Engineering & Infrastructure has been declared the lowest bidder (L1) for the construction of a 5.5 km underground tunnel from Gaimukh to Fountain Hotel Junction on Thane Ghodbunder Road, and an elevated road in Thane district, Maharashtra.

The scope of work includes the design and construction of the tunnel, and an elevated road from Fountain Hotel Junction to Bhayander.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had invited bids for the project in July 2024. The construction period is 54 months for each component, including time for obtaining environmental and other clearances, as well as the monsoon period. A defect liability period (DLP) of 24 months will follow completion.

Technical bids were opened in January 2025, with five bidders participating in the process.

The company submitted a bid value of Rs 9,019.53 crore for the underground tunnel and Rs 6,163.34 crore for elevated road.
