The Ministry of Jal Shakti has formed a technical expert group (TEG) to advise on remedial measures for rehabilitating the plunge pool at the Srisailam project.
This decision follows concerns raised by Telangana Irrigation officials about the safety of the project, leading to a site inspection by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) in April 2025. The Engineer-In-Chief of Andhra Pradesh expressed readiness to have an expert group constituted by the Central Water Commission (CWC) for technical support in implementing long-term rehabilitation measures. The Ministry notified both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana about the formation of the Group.
The TEG will be chaired by Vivek Tripathi, Chief Engineer, CWC, and will include experts such as Somesh Kumar, Samarth Agarwal, Arun Pratap Singh, and Madhukant Goyal from various CWC departments. The Group's work will address the interdisciplinary nature of the rehabilitation project.
