The Mohali IT City–Kurali expressway was opened to traffic on 22 December, 2025, promising to cut travel time by nearly 45 minutes without changing the overall distance.
The Rs 1,525.3 crore, six-lane, access-controlled Greenfield corridor enables vehicles to travel at speeds up to 100 kmph, offering uninterrupted, signal-free movement between Mohali and Kurali. This expressway is expected to reduce congestion on Airport Road in Mohali by diverting inter-state traffic away from urban areas, bypassing Mohali and Kharar. Spanning 31.23 km, the corridor includes major infrastructure such as bridges, flyovers, underpasses, and culverts to ensure smooth crossings. While a toll plaza has been set up near Bajheri village, toll collection has not yet begun.
The project faced delays due to monsoon rains and a farmer blockade in November 2025, but the final hurdle—shifting high-tension power lines, was cleared last month. NHAI officials noted the expressway’s role in improving travel efficiency, road safety, and regional economic growth.
