The Gujarat government
has signed an MoU with the UK based-StadiArena and its Indian partner
TransStadia to set up a 'stadiarena' in Ahmedabad.
The project involves
an investment cost of Rs.200 crore and it is scheduled to be completed by 2010.
On completion, stadiarena will be able accommodate up to 33,000 spectators.
StadiArena's design and technology will enable it to host football, rugby,
cricket and hockey matches. At the push of a button, the outdoor stadium could
be converted into an indoor arena within six minutes.
Apart from this,
TransStadia and StadiArena have formed a JV to develop similar projects in India
with a unique and globally patented technology that converts an outdoor stadium
into an indoor arena within minutes.
