Musashi India, a subsidiary of Japan's Musashi Seimitsu Industries, has completed Phase 2 expansion of its Bengaluru manufacturing facility, enhancing production capacity for two- wheeler and four-wheeler transmission components.
The expansion, which adds 11,000 sq. mtrs. to the existing plant, will increase production from four million to 6.5 million sets of scooter and motorcycle transmissions annually. The expanded facility, set to be fully operational by December 2025, will raise the plant’s output value from Rs 5.5 billion to Rs 10 billion. The new capabilities include forging, machining, and heat treatment, while automation technologies like gear grinding and robotic systems have been integrated.
"This expansion supports our goal of meeting rising demand for transmission components in both domestic and export markets," said a company spokesperson. The plant will also serve as a hub for prototype testing of transmissions and e-axles.
The facility boasts a 2.16 million kWh rooftop solar system and utilises over 96 percent green energy sourced from hydro, wind, rooftop solar, and captive renewables. It also incorporates natural ventilation systems and emission control devices for the power generators, supporting Musashi's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2038.
