The Tamil Nadu Government has allotted 300 acre for the National Automotive
Testing Research and Development Infrastructure Project (NATRIP) at Oragadam,
near Chennai.
The Union Government is to set up the project at an outlay of Rs 450 crore.
The project aims at facilitating introduction of world-class automotive safety,
emission and performance standards in India and also ensuring seamless
integration of automotive industry with the global industry.
The NATRIP project is to set up six testing centres across the country by
2011. The project involves creating a state of the art testing, validation and
R&D infrastructure in the country.
