Northern Coalfields, a Coal India
subsidiary has entered into talks with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam
(UPRVUNL) to float a 50:50 joint venture for setting up the Rs.4,500 crore 1,000
MW Anpara D thermal power project in Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh.
Coal will be supplied from NCL's
existing mines at Jayant in Madhya Pradesh and will source around 25-30 MW from
the proposed plant. NCL and UPRVUNL will jointly pump in around Rs.1,200 crore
for the project in equal proportions and rest of the funds will be sourced from
financial institutions, including banks.
