The Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh is poised for substantial infrastructural upgrades with the expedited construction of the Kondamodu-Perecherla highway and the expansion of NH-167 between Vadarevu and Piduguralla into a four-lane road.

These projects, totaling Rs 2,499.98 crore, focus on improving connectivity and driving regional development, supported by extensive land acquisition efforts across Palnadu and Bapatla districts, covering over 380 hectares. The Rs 1,064.24 crore Vadarevu-Piduguralla project aims to upgrade the 85-km-long NH 167-A from two lanes to four. This road will link vital highways like the Addanki-Narketpalli Road at Nekarikallu, NH-216 at Chirala, and NH-16 near Chilakaluripet.

Divided into two segments, Vadarevu to Chilakaluripet and Chilakaluripet to Nekarikallu, the project also includes an 18-km-long new road from Vadarevu to Eepuripalem, with bypass roads in Parchur, Timmarajupalem, and Chilakaluripet to enhance access. These improvements are expected to boost marine product exports from Chirala, promote beach tourism, and ensure better connectivity to remote coastal areas. A comprehensive survey has outlined plans for bypasses, service roads, and bridges to optimise traffic flow and reduce congestion.

The Kondamodu-Perecherla highway (NH 167 AG) will upgrade a 49.91-km stretch into a four-lane road at a cost of Rs 1,032.52 crore. Starting at NH-167A near Kondamodu, the highway will connect key areas such as Rajupalem, Reddigudem, Sattenapalli, and Medikonduru, terminating at NH 544D near Perecherla. This project will link with the Amaravati outer ring road, easing traffic on the Guntur-Hyderabad corridor and improving interstate connectivity.

Additionally, the Rs 403.22 crore Dachepalli-Macherla state highway upgrade to NH 167 AD will convert a 37-km route into a four-lane road, supporting industrial growth in cement transportation and tourism in Nagarjuna Sagar, Anupu, and nearby irrigation projects. These initiatives are expected to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce accident-prone zones, and enhance access to major cities like Hyderabad.

Land acquisition is actively progressing, with 277.79 hectares in Palnadu and 103 hectares in Bapatla districts, including 22.3 hectares of government-owned land. These developments reflect the government’s dedication to advancing connectivity, economic growth, and the standard of living in the region.
