The Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC) initiative reached a key milestone with the signing of the state support agreement (SSA) and shareholder agreement (SHA) between the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), Government of Haryana, and Haryana Airports Development Corporation (HADC).
Under this collaboration, the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) will assist in developing the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) at Hisar, one of 20 projects under implementation across India. Spread across 2,988 acres near the Maharaja Agrasen International Airport, Hisar, the IMC is backed by an investment potential of Rs 32,417 crore with a project cost of Rs 4,680 crore, expected to generate 1.25 lakh employment opportunities
Strategically positioned between the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors, the cluster offers robust connectivity via NH-52, NH-09, rail links, and logistics hubs. Officials noted that “these agreements reflect the Government of India’s strong commitment” to industrial growth, fostering a businessfriendly environment, large-scale employment, and global investments under the Make in India vision.
