The 105th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) focused on enhancing multimodal connectivity and logistics efficiency in line with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan.
The NPG reviewed multiple railway and road projects aimed at boosting infrastructure and reducing travel times, ultimately benefiting socio-economic conditions. Key projects discussed include the construction of the third and fourth railway lines between Arakkonam–Renigunta and Guntakal–Bellary, aimed at easing congestion and increasing freight capacity. Other projects include the doubling of tracks between Erode–Karur and Salem–Karur–Dindigul, which will enhance logistics for industries like cement, coal, and textiles. The expansion of lines between Yadadri–Kazipet and Ghatkesar–Yadadri in Telangana, along with the electrified multi-tracking line between Talegaon and Uruli in Maharashtra, will further strengthen freight and passenger services.
The Ministry of Railways emphasised the strategic importance of these projects for improving regional connectivity and supporting industrial growth. “These projects will significantly enhance logistics efficiency and contribute to regional economic development,” the Ministry stated.
