Indian Public Sector Undertaking, NTPC, and National Aluminium Company (NALCO) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to set up a coal-fired power plant in the state of Odisha.
The MoU will facilitate both the companies to set up a joint venture (JV) company to develop a 2,400 MW coal-fired power plant at Gajmara, Dhenkanal, Odisha.
The estimated cost of the project will be around Rs 14,000 crore.
The power generated at the plant will be used by NALCO at an investment of Rs 10,000 crore, for the brownfield expansion of its five lakh tonne aluminium smelter at Angul, as well as for the Rs 12,000 crore greenfield project of the six lakh tonne smelter at Kamakhya Nagar.
