National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)
has planned to raise Rs.5,600 crore for the 3x660 MW Sipat power project coming
up in Chhattisgarh.
Of the total amount proposed to be
raised, Rs.1,200 – Rs.1,500 crore would be raised from banks and financial
institutions (FIs). NTPC has already initiated talks with some banks and FIs in
this connection. Another Rs.2,000 crore would be raised through bonds, while the
remaining amount would be raised from export credit agencies and external
commercial borrowings.
NTPC has set a budget of Rs.36,000 crore
to create an additional capacity of 9,160 MW during the 10th Five
Year Plan period. The projects that NTPC plans to invest in during this period
include, Simhadri (1,000 MW), Talcher (2,000 MW), Ramagundam III (500 MW), Rihand
(1,000 MW), Kawas II (650 MW), Gandhar II (650 MW), Anta (650 MW), Auraiya (650
MW), Koldam (800 MW) and Barh (1,980 MW).
