NTPC's Darlipali thermal power plant is likely to be commissioned by February 2018, in Sundargarh district in Odisha.
The estimated cost of the 800 MW capacity thermal power plant is around Rs 13,000 crore, of which Rs 4,000 crore is funded by Maharatna PSU.
Production of the power plant will commence in August 2018.
The second unit of the 1,600 MW power project, which will produce another 800 MW, is anticipated to be commissioned by the end of 2018.
Half of the power generated from the plant will be supplied to the state to meet its energy needs.
The company plans to infuse over Rs 2,600 crore to develop three coal blocks in the state. Of the total investment, over Rs 600 crore is proposed to be invested in Dulanga coal block which is connected to Dariplalli super thermal project.
