Nagarjuna Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd (NFCL), Andhra Pradesh based company
has reportedly raised its production capacity from 11.95 to 15.66 lakh tpa with
an investment of Rs 200 crore.
Apart from de-bottlenecking for capacity enhancement, NFCL has given due
attentions to reduce the overall energy consumption and also enhancement of
reliability of the existing equipment. According to sources, the company has
managed to bring down overall energy requirement for urea production.
NFCL had kick started a major process of revamp and de-bottlenecking in
phased manner in order to increase the capacity and reduce pollution. Phase I
consisted of installation of ammonia converter, replacement of water cooling
systems with an investment of Rs 55 crore which has resulted in production
increase of 50,000 tpa in Unit-I of the plant.
In early 2009, the company has managed to convert Unit II to be run with
natural gas. Both the plants have been commissioned on 23 and 28 September 2009
respectively.
Earlier, the company used to run the plants using mixture of naphtha and
natural gas in varying proportions depending upon the availability of natural
gas, which was scarce in supply.
