Tata's Nano plant in Sanand, Gujarat, is ready for commercial production and
is likely to be formally launched soon.
Earlier, the company was planning to launch the Sanand plant on 1 May 2010 to
coincide with completion of 50 years of Gujarat's statehood. However, the launch
could not take place on the day for some reasons.
According to sources, the plant is likely to have an initial capacity of
producing 2,50,000 Nano cars per annum, which will be eventually increased to
3,50,000 cars. Currently, Nano is being produced in Tata's plant at Pantnagar in
Uttarakhand.
