The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has set a target to complete the excavation work on 19 key roads by the end of February 2026.
These roads are a priority for upgradation ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2027. Civic body commissioner Manisha Khatri has directed all concerned departments, utility agencies, and the smart city corporation to expedite the completion of underground utility work, including the installation of water pipelines, sewer lines, electrical cables, and piped natural gas (PNG) infrastructure. The work on these 19 roads is part of a larger Rs 1,270 crore project to develop 29 major roads in the city, which is set to begin in March 2026.
These roads, vital for traffic management during the Kumbh Mela, will connect major highways and form essential corridors for pilgrims. NMC aims to avoid repeated digging once road construction starts and ensure that all infrastructure is ready ahead of the festival’s peak period.
