Naxion Energy, a sodium-ion battery manufacturer based in Hyderabad, has announced plans to invest Rs 200 crore by December 2026 to expand its production capacity and set up a new facility.
The company, which currently operates a plant in Coimbatore, will also increase its workforce by 50 percent to support its growth strategy. CEO Abishek Reddy mentioned that the new manufacturing unit, set to be operational next year, will include both an assembly unit and a cell manufacturing facility, marking it as the company’s second major production plant. Earlier in the day, Naxion Energy launched India’s first sodium-ion-based energy storage systems, developed at the Coimbatore facility.
The integrated platform combines a battery, inverter, and solar maximum power point tracking (MPPT) unit. Designed as a safer, lighter, and cost-effective alternative to lead-acid batteries, the system is suitable for residential, commercial, industrial, and defence applications. The new platform will help scale the company’s operations and support the transition to cleaner energy.
