Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a second bridge connecting Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, on 19 July, 2017.
The bridge stretching 2.81 km is named after Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. It is the longest bridge in the state. It was constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 114 crore and was completed in six years.
The bridge, built on Kathajodi river, a tributary of Mahanadi, will not only lessen the distance between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack by 12 km, it will also help divert traffic and ease commute.
Construction on another bridge over Mahanadi is underway and is likely to be completed by 2019. Once completed, it will act as a ring road to the existing Cuttack-Sambalpur NH-55.
