A consortium of Reliance Infrastructure (R-Infra) and Hyundai has secured the
contract from the Maharashtra Government to build a planned sea link between
Worli and Haji Ali.
The bids for the 3.66-km section of the Worli-Haji Ali sea link were opened
on 4 February 2009, wherein the consortium emerged the lowest bidder, requiring
a viability gap funding (VGF) of Rs 1,392 crore.
The contract structured in such a manner that R-Infra will end up owning the
proposed World-Haji Ali stretch as well as the operational Bandra-Worli link.
R-Infra consortium will have to pay the Maharashtra State Road Development
Corporation Rs 1,634 crore to buy out the under construction Bandra-Worli sea
link.
