The Andhra Pradesh Government plans to set up two nuclear energy parks at
Kovvada (Srikakulam district) and Nizampatnam (Guntur district) at an
investment of over Rs 1,50,000 crore.
NPCIL has already kick started pre-project activities at Kovvada where six
imported reactors of 1,400 MWe are to be set up in phases. Land acquisition is
likely to begin soon.
Besides, NPCIL is holding discussions with the state government to firm up
the site at Nizampatnam, where it is proposed to establish another six imported
reactors of 1,400 MWe.
This apart, plans are afoot to set up two indigenous reactors of 700 MWe at
Pulivendula (2x700 MWe) in Kadapa district.
