Carborundum Universal (CUMI) has signed a techno-commercial agreement with UK firms Sheffield Refractories and Anderman Ceramics to manufacture, supply and install a range of high-end refractory solutions for the steel and glass industries and for aerospace component manufacture.
The manufacturing of these products will be done at CUMI's plant in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, and also at a new location. For the new plant, the company is looking to for site in Western India, including Gujarat. It is likely to invest Rs 30 crore in the plant and it will be part of Rs 200 crore capital expenditure planned by CUMI for FY13.
