Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has launched an infrastructure plan worth over Rs three lakh crore for Madhya Pradesh, aimed at transforming connectivity, tourism, and logistics.
Speaking at the inauguration of the state’s longest flyover in Jabalpur, Nitin Gadkari announced several key projects, including a Rs 5,500 crore 'Tiger Corridor' linking Kanha, Panna, Bandhavgarh, and Pench tiger reserves to boost eco-tourism and rural employment. Major highlights include a Rs 15,000 crore greenfield expressway between Bhopal and Jabalpur, a Rs 10,000 crore Lakhnadaun-Raipur highway, and a Rs 12,000 crore Indore-Bhopal expressway. Additional projects involve the Rs 15,000 crore Jabalpur-Mandla-Chilpi corridor, Rs 2,500 crore Seoni-Chhindwara-Sanwner highway upgrade, and Rs 2,300 crore Khargone-Julwania road.
Several two-lane road projects, such as the Rs 625 crore Betul-Paratwara stretch and Rs 750 crore Balaghat-Nainpur road, have also been cleared. On a national scale, the Minister highlighted progress on the Rs one lakh crore Delhi-Mumbai expressway, Rs 33,000 crore for greenfield corridors, and Rs 11,000 crore Bhopal-Kanpur Economic Corridor, promising faster travel and stronger economic growth across central India.
