Nova Control Tecnologix, a deep-tech subsidiary of e2E Transportation Infrastructure, has teamed up with Tata Elxsi to develop Kavach 4.0, an advanced version of India’s automatic train protection (ATP) system.
Kavach aims to prevent train collisions and is set to be expanded across the Indian Railways network, incorporating SIL4-certified engineering. The initiative marks a significant entry of the private sector into a critical rail safety domain traditionally dominated by public enterprises. Tata Elxsi brings its expertise in AI, IoT, and digital solutions for railway modernisation.
The phased rollout will focus on high-priority routes, with production taking place in Bengaluru. The system will undergo a certification process overseen by Indian Railways and the RDSO.
