Numaligarh Refinery (NRL) marked a major milestone on 31 December, 2025 with the successful commissioning of the crude oil integration facility (COIF), following approval from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO).
The COIF’s commissioning allowed NRL to complete the Oil In activity at the CDU VDU, representing the first significant operational step toward full commissioning of the refinery’s core unit. This achievement also enables the phase-wise commissioning of other units under the Numaligarh Refinery Expansion Project (NREP). The NREP, NRL’s flagship six MTPA expansion project, will raise the refinery’s total capacity to nine MTPA at its Golaghat facility in Assam, making it a crucial energy infrastructure project for Northeast India. The COIF inauguration and Oil In operation were conducted by Girish Kumar Borah, Director (Technical), NRL, along with company officials and project partners.
This milestone demonstrates NRL’s strong project execution and reinforces its commitment to India’s energy security, regional development, and self-reliance in the petroleum sector.
