OM System (formerly Olympus) has officially re-entered India after exiting in 2020, with a focus on cameras and lenses.
The rebranded company, now part of OM Digital Solutions Corp, aims to position India as a strategic growth hub, backed by advanced product launches, strengthened dealer networks, and a creator-focused ecosystem. CEO Shigemi Sugimoto highlighted India’s vibrant imaging market, especially in outdoor and wildlife photography. Vivek Handoo, VP & MD for Asia Pacific, confirmed that while binoculars and audio devices are part of the portfolio, cameras and lenses remain the core.
The firm operates via distributors and plans to establish a subsidiary within 12 to 18 months. Valuing India’s imaging market at USD 750 million, OM System expects strong double-digit growth and aims to rank among its top five global markets within five years. Globally, the company continues to prioritise outdoor photography leadership.
