The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has accorded environmental clearance for onshore development and production of oil and gas from six wells in five mine lease blocks in Jorhat and Golaghat districts, Assam.
The project is being undertaken by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). The development and production of oil and gas from six wells in Borholla, Nambar, East Lakhibari, Khoraghat and Khoraghat Extension.
The existing land area in Jorhat district is 32.1 16 sq km and in Golaghat it is 120.5 sq km. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 240 crore.
The total capital cost earmarked towards environmental pollution control measures is Rs 17.62 lakh and the recurring cost (O&M) will be around Rs 28.31 lakh per annum.
The project will create direct employment opportunity for 62 people, and during installation of surface facilities for 60 people.
The power requirement for the project will be met through four DG sets of 1,430 kVA or from the Assam State Power Distribution Corporation (ASPDCL).
