ONGC has found gas in the well GK-28-1 drilled in the -1 in western offshore.
The well which has been drilled to the depth of 1,550 mtrs, floated 1.2 lakh
cubic mtrs a day of gas during test.
According to sources, the prospect is a fault closure and it is for the first
time that gas is struck in reservoirs of Miocene age in Kachchh offshore. This
discovery has provided lead for exploration of similar plays in the area.
This apart, the well Kammapalem-1 in KG onland block which has been drilled o
a depth of 3,587 mtrs, flowed gas with condensate at the rate of 1.01 lakh cubic
mtrs per day and 2.4 cubic mtrs a day, respectively. This prospect is a four-way
dip closure and the discovery is under assessment for its potential.
