State Fisheries Resource Management Society (FIRMA), Kerala, is planning to set up an oceanarium at Kochi in the state.
The PPP project is to be set up on 40 acre of Government land at Puthuvypeen. The oceanarium will offer unique underwater experience by showcasing aquarium alley, deep sea tunnel, polar pavilion, shark tank, touch tank, other entertainment facilities etc. The project is estimated to cost around Rs 350 crore.
The state government has roped in Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) as bid manager for the project which is to be developed under the DBFOT model. A Mahindra Consulting Engineers and Jacques Rougerie Architecte combine has completed the detailed feasibility report and is doing the conceptual design for the project. KSIDC is likely to issue RFQs for the selection of the developers.
