Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on 11 December, 2025 launched the Chief Minister Adibandh Scheme 3.0, with a budget of Rs 2,738 crore, aimed at enhancing the state's irrigation infrastructure.
The initiative will involve the construction of 3,000 new check dams and the restoration of 2,000 old ones over the next five years, covering 48,000 hectares of farmland. At the OUAT recruitment fair, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for 201 new check dams, with an investment of Rs 160 crore, and dedicated 101 completed check dams worth Rs 70.27 crore. On the same occasion, CM Majhi inaugurated irrigation projects worth Rs 425 crore and laid the foundation for additional projects totalling Rs 2,063 crore. These efforts are expected to benefit over 1.27 lakh farmers in Odisha.
Speaking at the launch, the CM emphasised that Odisha is entering a new phase of infrastructure development, highlighting the crucial role of engineers in the state's progress. He also pointed out that Odisha is spending more than 6.1 percent of its GDP on capital investment, the highest in India, underscoring the state's commitment to growth.
