Odisha's government is focused on positioning the state as a leader in the digital economy by 2036, with Bhubaneswar slated to become a Fintech City and new digital hubs in tier-II cities.
The initiative aims to decentralise IT development across the state, targeting regions like Cuttack, Rourkela, and Sambalpur for tech growth in sectors such as LegalTech, IoT, and data centres. The state’s Odisha Digital Economy Mission seeks to facilitate Rs 16.73 lakh crore in investments, creating over 50,000 high-paying work roles. Collaboration with Singapore’s GFTN will foster talent and financial tech innovation.
Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary of Electronics and IT, emphasised that these efforts will generate Rs 40,000 crore in annual GVA by 2036, with the establishment of world-class global capability centres (GCCs) and robust infrastructure in key regions.
The government also plans to create five global capability centres (GCC) hubs, starting with the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri belt and the Rourkela-Jharsuguda-Sambalpur corridor, to support sectors like metal, mining, and manufacturing.
