Odisha government aims to advance its energy strategy and is engaging in talks with NTPC and Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) to establish nuclear power plants.
This collaboration highlights the state's commitment to clean and sustainable energy. Discussions are underway for joint ventures with NTPC and NPCIL, with a focus on leveraging Odisha's significant thorium reserves, crucial for India's nuclear plans. The state's energy officials emphasise that these nuclear projects will be built with safety as a top priority. Additionally, Odisha's plans include adding 11 GW of renewable energy by 2030, alongside large-scale solar and pumped storage initiatives.
The state is also progressing with green hydrogen projects in Paradip and Gopalpur, backed by an investment of Rs 1.25 lakh crore. With the state’s rich natural resources and forward-looking energy policies, Odisha is positioning itself as a key player in India's energy transition.
