The Odisha government has announced plans to develop the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri-Paradip economic region (BCPPER) as a major integrated economic corridor, supported by a comprehensive infrastructure roadmap.
The plan includes constructing three ring roads spanning 645 km to enhance connectivity and regional development. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, during a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, instructed departments to prepare a dedicated development programme aimed at transforming all cities in the corridor into “growth hubs” for industrial, commercial, and tourism expansion. The network will feature a 432-km Capital Ring Road linking Paradip to Puri via Tangi, Saptasajya, and Rameshwar, co-ordinated with the Centre’s proposed 111-km Capital Region Ring Road. Additionally, a 148-km outer ring road, and a 65-km inner ring road are planned.
The proposed railway lines include a 32-km stretch from Puri to Konark and a 70-km line from Konark to Bhubaneswar via Nimapara. The corridor’s direct access to Paradip Port is expected to boost manufacturing, logistics, tourism, and multiple other sectors.
