Mumbai-based Organic Recycling Systems (ORSL), a leader in cleantech and waste management, has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pune’s Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI) on 22 July, 2025.
This partnership aims to accelerate research and development in sustainable waste management, green energy, and biofuel sectors. The collaboration combines these complementary strengths to address critical technological and environmental challenges at both national and global levels. Under this MoU, both organisations will jointly focus on transforming agro-biomass, sugar industry waste, and sugarcane trash into high-value products and green energy.
They plan to jointly apply for external funding from government agencies such as DBT, DST, MNRE, and MoEFCC for lab-scale and pilot projects. The partnership will also engage in joint consulting, technology validation, and promote innovation through seminars, workshops, and academic programs.
VSI is recognised globally for its expertise in sugar industry research and academics, while ORSL specialises in waste valorisation and bioenergy solutions. Both will work together to support start-ups in sustainable technologies and submit proposals for national and international research funding, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and scientific advancement.
