Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has received the letter of Intent (LoI) for a project titled “Inter-Regional Strengthening between Southern Region (SR) Grid and Eastern Region (ER) Grid” on 15 December, 2025.
The CPSE had been declared the successful bidder under tariff based competitive bidding (TBCB) for this inter-state transmission system. The project will be implemented on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis and involves constructing 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines across Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, along with line bays and reactor installations at both ends.
This initiative is designed to enhance inter-regional power transfer capacity and reinforce grid reliability, supporting India’s rising electricity demand and renewable energy integration.
