The Public Investment Board on 28 August 2015 gave clearance to start the pre-construction activities of 1,900 MW Super Thermal Power plant by UP government and Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDCIL) in Khurja, Bulandshahr.
The clearance will allow THDCIL to submit a Detailed Project Report (DPR), and to prepare the ground for starting work on the main power project. The project on commissioning is expected to mitigate the power crises in the DMIC, Greater Noida and Noida belts.
The environmental clearance for the main project will be approved once the coal block allocation is done. The project will take about 5 years to commission.
THDC has also entered into power purchase agreement with Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi.
