Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s longest river bridge in Assam on 26 May, 2017. It was supposed to be inaugurated on 24 May, 2017.
The river bridge is capable of withstanding the weight of a 60 tonne battle tank. The Dhola-Sadiya bridge is 9.15 km long over the Brahmaputra river.
The bridge will not only improve connectivity in the region but will also shore up the defence infrastructure along the Sino-Indian border.
Construction work of the bridge began in 2011 at a project cost of Rs 950 crore.
