The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved a Rs 203 crore project to improve the Chandani Chowk-Bhugaon corridor, a major route for commuters from the Konkan region.
The plan includes a two-km flyover and a bridge over Ram Nadi to reduce congestion. With rapid urbanisation and the area's population projected to reach three lakhs, the upgrade aims to streamline traffic flow. The project will also involve the widening of roads and a new 60-mtrs. road as part of the development plan. Work will begin once 80 percent of the land is acquired, and tenders will be issued afterward.
Despite previous infrastructure investments, rising traffic demands have fast-tracked the project, which will be overseen by the PMC's project department. The development will integrate with the future PMRDA Ring Road, enhancing connectivity to national highways.
