PSA International has again emerged as the highest bidder to set up a fourth container terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Nhava Sheva, in Raigarh district of Maharashtra.
In 2012, the company had emerged as the highest bidder for the project, but refused to sign the contract, forcing Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) to go for re-bidding in June 2013.
Out of the seven shortlisted firms, only two turned up to submit the price bids. These are PSA International, and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone. PSA International has offered 35.79 per cent of the revenue share while Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone has quoted 29 per cent revenue share.
The JNPT is planning to award the project by the end of this month. The fourth container terminal, with a container handling capacity of three to four million twenty ft equivalent, is estimated to cost Rs 8,200 crore.
