Panasonic plans to set up a new manufacturing unit in India as part of its strategy to deepen its presence in one of its fastest-growing markets.
Tadashi Chiba, MD & CEO of Panasonic Life Solutions India, said that the company will apply under the reopened window of the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for white goods. Chiba highlighted the shift from a Japan-led to India-led model, noting, “Many of our Indian teams are already providing global services, and we want to strengthen this model further.” While Panasonic is widely known for consumer durables, nearly half its India revenue comes from the B2B segment, with growth in supply chain solutions, industrial devices, and building systems.
Speaking at Electronica India in Bengaluru, Tadashi Chiba stressed that India offers not only demand but also “strong resources and customer networks.” Panasonic is exploring three growth areas—AI platforms and services, electric vehicles, and living space solutions—while aligning with the Rs 6,238 crore PLI scheme for white goods.
